چکیده

an interatrial communication in an unusually cephalad location has been diagnosed at cardiac catheterization in 8 patients. These patients had the clinical features seen in patients who have atrial septal defects in the region of the fossa ovalis. Differentiation was accomplished by (1) the roentgenographic position of the catheter in the right superior pulmonary vein, (2) demonstration of an abnormally high oxygen saturation of the blood in the superior vena cava, (3) the presence of a small right-to-left shunt from the superior vena cava and the absence of such a shunt from the inferior vena cava, and (4) demonstration of similar drainage of blood from the right superior pulmonary vein and superior vena cava. The syndrome is considered to be an anomaly of pulmonary venous development while the atrial septum forms normally.

Anomalous Inferior Vena Cava Draining into the Left Atrium Associated with Intact Interatrial Septum and Multiple Pulmonary Arteriovenous Fistulae.

CONGENITAL cardiac defects involving the venous return to the heart and those affecting the partitioning of the atria should probably be considered as a group. The most commonly encountered and simplest to correct are defects in the interatrial septum of the ostium secundum type. Due to the lower resistance to emptying into the right ventricle from the two communicating atria, the shunt in such...

Isolated Right Sided Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Connection Associated with Significant Right ventricular Enlargement and Intact Interatrial Septum.

Partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection (PAPVC) is a very rare congenital heart disease where one or more of the pulmonary veins are connected to the venous circulation. Although initially suspected with inexplicable right ventricular enlargement on transthoracic echocardiography, other modalities such as transesophageal echocardiography, CT angiography or cardiac Magnetic resonance (CMR)...

Partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection to the superior vena cava.

BACKGROUND Repair of partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection (PAPVC) to the high portion of the superior vena cava (SVC) may be complicated by atrial arrhythmia and obstruction of the pulmonary veins or SVC. We reviewed our experience with the modified Warden technique, in which the SVC was transected and anastomosed to the right atrial appendage with anterior augmentation of pedicled aut...
